San Francisco, California (Accredited Times) — For many environmentalists, the coronavirus crisis has marked a significant improvement in man’s relationship with nature. Pollution has plummeted, and the economy has crashed in a blaze of forced conservation — exactly as we have demanded for decades.
But for others, the coronavirus crisis has worsened a troubling, yet deepening, divide between man and virus. Viruses are alive, yet speciesist politicians act almost as if viruses have no rights at all. It’s time to put a stop to anti-viral bigotry. Viruses have rights too.
“Viruses are alive,” David Bhella, a microbiologist at the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research explained in an article for the Microbiology Society. “The contention that viruses have no place in the tree of life is often supported by the assertion that viruses do not have a comparable history — viruses are polyphyletic. Viruses are at a terrible disadvantage in this comparison, however. We are aware of only a tiny fraction of the total genetic diversity of viruses.”
“Although viruses challenge our concept of what ‘living’ means, they are vital members of the web of life, ” Luis Villarreal, the director of the Center for Virus Research at the University of California, Irvine, told the Scientific American.
Bhella and Villarreal are not alone. Other accredited scientists, including Bill Nye, Neil deGrasse Tyson, and Richard Dawkins, have indicated that viruses are alive. Famed scientist Stephen Hawking even claimed that computer viruses are alive.
That means they have rights, including the right to choose and the right to love whom they damn well please.
“We have to live at one with nature,” one activist told the Accredited Times. “We need to learn to love all living beings, including viruses. What these doctors and nurses are doing to COVID-19 is genocide.”
“Is the coronavirus the disease, or is man the real disease?” another activist pondered. “Man is a plague on the world. Just look at what white males have done recently. CO2. Racism. Trump. Either white males die, or the polar bears die. I support the polar bears.”
Scientists and activists are not alone. “If I were reincarnated, I would wish to be returned to earth as a killer virus to lower human population levels,” Prince Philip, the husband of Queen Elizabeth II, has said.
Viruses are alive, and they have every right to love, to reproduce, and to ponder their place in our vast cosmos. It’s time to stop the speciesist attacks on COVID-19. Viruses have rights too.

Yup, Stephen Hawking studied important things like BLACK HOLES, which many non-accredited scientists seem to think are actually just plasmoids, the exact properties of which can be replicated in a lab. Black holes are VERY important, and we wouldn’t be able to build airplanes or computers without the theoretical formulas that relate to them.
