Many people are under the misconception that Europeans gave birth to modern civilization. Eurocentric history consistently ignores the achievements of people of color, while attributing the advancement of humankind to the ancient Greeks, the Romans, British and other European peoples. Aristotle, Isaac Newton and Leonardo Davinci are held up as pioneers of human progress, while the accomplishments of other peoples are ignored and suppressed.
An inconvenient fact that Europeans choose to ignore, is that civilization originated in Africa. The Nubian kingdom in Egypt can be traced back to before 2000 B.C, and archaeologists still marvel at their achievements to this day. The Nubians invented modern architecture and engineering, constructing the pyramids and pharaohs with their bare hands and minimal resources. The Nubians also developed the first astronomical devices for mapping the movements of stars and the planets. By all accounts the Nubians were among the most advanced civilizations in history, and their achievements paved the way for others to build on their success.
In addition, countless inventions that Eurocentric history claims as European, would never have been developed without the key contributions of people of color. For example, Algebra, the basis of all mathematics and physics, was invented by Arabs over a thousand years ago, laying the foundations for the scientific progress of the modern world. Many of the machines and appliances invented during the industrial revolution would not have been possible without the contributions of African Americans, such as Elijah McCoy, who invented the oil-drip cup for lubricating steam engines. It is also little understood that Nigerian Phillip Emeagwali invented the fastest computer in the world during the 1980s.
It’s tragic that Eurocentric history continues to indoctrinate us into forgetting these inventions and contributions, and that Europeans are unjustifiably held up as the architects of the modern world. Hopefully, with the implementation of Common Core, we will be able to update the curriculum to include these achievements, and correctly atribute the development of modern civilization to people of color.

Even if a person has 0.0001% of minority heritage, she is considered minority (unless she holds politically wrong opinions, is a terrorist, or businessperson). Consequently, Aristotle, Isaac Newton and Leonardo Da Vinci should be considered minorities! I am sure that if these talented individuals would have lived today, they would associate themselves with oppressed minorities and would be supporting H R Clinton for president!

We know nowadays that the pharaohs were black. There are Egyptian paintings to prove that.
But this historical fact is so upsetting to European supremacists that they actually used chemicals to lighten the skin of the pharoahs on the Egyptian wall paintings to make them look like modern day light skinned Arabs instead of Africans.
And simultaneously they used separate chemicals to darken the paintings of the light-skinned Arab slaves tied together by rope and carrying baskets on their backs while being whipped to make those slaves look like Africans, instead of light-skinned Arabs which they actually were.
