A Different Perspective on Endocrine Disruptors

One of the hottest topics in the alternative health community right now, especially among those trying to “optimize their testosterone” or “optimize their hormones”, is the prevalence “endocrine disruptors” in our environment. According to studies on rats, and some human studies, these compounds disrupt the human endocrine system, leading to estrogenic effects in men, early menopause in womyn, and infertility in both. The effects on non-binaries are yet to be tested, but they are thought to exhibit a combination of these effects. People who have been lead to believe that unrealistically high hormone levels and perfectly functioning endocrine systems are somehow the “norm”, have been tearing their hair out, trying to eliminate every possible toxin from their lives, even going so far as to remove soy from their diets, filter their water supply and store food and milk in expensive glass containers. But is avoiding endocrine disruptors really necessary? Or is this just another fad that will soon blow over, just like the Atkins diet and the “exercise” craze?

One of the major sources of endocrine disruptors is plastic, which leaches into food and water when heated or exposed to a solvent, and gives off fumes, leading to the “new car” smell for example, which is actually phthalates leaching from the car dashboard. Plastic is absolutely everywhere, and due to the urgency and seriousness of the climate emergency, hasn’t been identified by the public at large as an environmental or health risk, despite accumulating in the oceans at what some would consider an alarming rate. We drink from plastic bottles, eat from plastic containers, brush our teeth with plastic bristles, and give our children plastic toys and dummies that leach into their bodies. Plastics are packed with powerful endocrine disruptors like BPA and phthalates, which alter hormones even in very small amounts. Another source of these chemicals is deodorants and colognes. I’m particular guilty of this one as I just love a strong cologne to wear with my checkered shirt and skinny jeans, and a powerful scented deodorant after my workouts. So as you can see, these chemicals are pretty much unavoidable.

Are endocrine disruptors really that bad though? The two major concerns people have with these chemicals is that they will 1) reduce their testosterone and 2) make them infertile. Are either of these things really a problem?

Take testosterone for example, as we’ve covered before at the Accredited Times, testosterone is the primary cause of violence, crime and war, and those with higher testosterone tend to be less progressive and more right wing than those with lower T levels. So maybe lowering the level of testosterone in society isn’t such a bad thing after all? We could certainly do with less crime, and we could definitely do with less right wing politics.

As for making us infertile – isn’t this exactly what we need in order to address the climate emergency? It’s quite ironic that on the one hand, everyone says they’re worried about the climate emergency, but on the other hand, they want to have kids! Well, how are we supposed to lower our CO2 emissions when white people keep popping out more little Hitlers who will grow up to be over-consuming yuppies and gas-guzzling 4×4 drivers just like them? We need fewer white people, and phthalates are part of the solution. Will people of color, who by contrast tend to live at one with nature, be affected too? Maybe – but at least they won’t have to deal with effects of climate change, which will almost certainly be worse.

So am I denying that endocrine disruptors alter our development and hormones? No – quite the contrary. They absolutely do alter our hormones, and this is a good thing. We need less testosterone and we need more progress. And if these little chemicals can help us achieve our goals as progressives, then I say let them be! These chemicals may be unnatural, but nature will thank us for creating them in the end.

  • Thanks for your concern about my testosterone, which my doctors tell me is at optimal levels to acquit Trump.

    • As a right leaning progressive with true Judeo-Christian values, I pray that you find it within your heart to do the right thing and think of all of the children this administration has separated from their families, not to mention the Chamber of Commerce, whose constituents would be devastated if we were to actually enforce immigration law. Look, I know Trump has done a lot for Israel, which is problematic because I, as a Judeo-Christian Boomer, am glad for all of that. But we need to be principled and have the courage to do what is right, like Mitt Romney does.

  • If it goes too low you will drop dead!

Which brings up the question: Why is there no mandatory Health Warning on all CNN programs?

For instance: Health Warning: Watching this show will result in the death of your remaining 2 brain cells.

  • MDB or anyone else for that matter, if you are concerned your testosterone is too high, may I advise watching all of the Avengers films in a row? Marvel movies are the film equivalent of consuming plastic infused foods. As an aging Boomer, my testosterone is dropping at an alarmingly not fast enough rate, but with the vegan diet I just started, I should be able to remedy the issue.

    • Whatever you do, don't watch the British 1960s TV series called The Avengers by mistake. I blame Diana Rigg as Emma Peel for enticing impressionable young boys like me into a shameful life of heterosexuality. (https://www.pinterest.co.uk/wesleyetheridge/best-emma-peel-outfits/) The youth of today don't realise how lucky they are, being exposed almost exclusively to images of gays, transs and females who compete to be as ugly as possible.

      • Good gosh, I remember Diana Rigg as about as sexy as a gal could ever be.
Now I know that lust in my early teens was inexcusable and I now know that I should have paid attention to the plotline. We need to be more serious about getting the public schools on board with preventing teen boys from lustful thoughts toward womyn.
All of their eating utensils for soy burgers must be legislated to pthalate based plastic as well as their water and beer bottles.

    • I love the avengers! Marvel movies are just the best. I just love the idea of a masculine super hero saving us all. My favorite parts are the action scenes and the explosions. I just can't get enough of the explosions - they just get better and better every year.

    • There is research showing that plastic wrap contains testosterone-like substances

A possible solution to low testosterone would therefore be to boil plastic wrap and then drink the water. Wimps can add a tea bag and sugar to disguise the taste.

Warning: I am not a certified (or accredited) medical technician so do this at your own risk. Excepting boiling a tea bag IN UNPOLLUTED WATER, adding sugar and drinking the result, which still may taste like crap, depending on the condition and brand of the tea bag.

  • Listening to the music on the radio does similar things to my testosterone. If that doesn't work I normally watch a travel vlog to see someone with REALLY low testosterone, like this guy:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeuPa63JFn0

I'd really like to get my testosterone as low as this guy's, but it's easier said than done.

  • CNN’s coverage of the impeachment inquiry has been absolutely riveting. As a Boomer, I don’t have many TV options while visiting doctors’ offices but I certainly appreciate CNN’s commitment to objectivity.

  • When I was in the Falklands being a big hero I was exposed to endocrine disruptors from an Argentinian exocet and contracted a peculiar medical condition that makes Ginny Roberts a f$$king liar.
